Well, I've started trying to quit again. I have gotten down to one cup of coffee in the morning. Today is my first day swapping the coffee for black tea. (I have learned from horrible experiences that quitting cold turkey is no bueno). I have to say I miss my morning coffee. It does wonders for clearing away that "sleep brain" and generally makes me a happier person to be around.
So, we'll see what today brings. I'm not sure what the comparable ratios of caffeine content are in tea vs. coffee. I do know that the afternoon is likely to bring a migraine. I will have to check to see if Advil Migraine contains caffeine (as that would totally defeat the purpose).
If I can successfully switch from coffee to tea I am officially over the hill. Going from tea to nothing at all is nowhere near as bad as doing the same from coffee. This lifestyle change has certainly kept more money in the bank since I no longer make my ritualistic Starbucks run at work. There is little appeal for a Caramel Macchiato(sp?) or a Frapuccino without caffeine (except for the Coconut Frapuccino which is pretty much amazing).
This switch will be good considering A) there is a direct link to coffee and acid-reflux, and B) my doctor informed me that I am no longer supposed to take Prilosec. Prilosec has been my best friend for the past couple of years when my GERD acts up. Well, apparently it decreases bone density. So now I'm just supposed to call my doctor when the GERD gets bad. Problem is if I call her everytime I'm wishing for a Prilosec I'm going to be on a first name basis with her. Maybe I'm only supposed to call if I fear a hole may be forming in my throat? All I know is between the no prilosec and these horrific allergies I'm going to be sounding like someone who has smoked for 40 years (which I have not in case you are wondering).
We will see what these new contributions(?) to my health will lead to. Until then if I seem a bit grumpy you can blame it on lack of caffeine, acid-reflux, and awful allergies with no knowledge of where my antihistamines went!
